THERMAL BAR® NEWS
The Thermal Bar is alive and well! Despite a lack of presence on the current market, the final recipe has been perfected.
WHAT WE’VE LEARNED
After distributing hundreds of bars to climbers, sports people, carpenters and skiers last season we got a good feel for
the kind of product the Thermal Bar needs to be. The original recipe, which relied on niacin as the prime vasodilator to
deliver blood flow and thus warmth to the extremities turned out to be a little harsh to sensitive users. The feedback we
received from the comment cards attached to our marketing samples was about 85% positive and has fueled our incentive
to continue the development of this unique product.
OUR CONCEPT IN A NUT SHELL
Much like burning wood in a pot belly stove, opening the damper and letting heat flow into the room, Thermal Bar
supplies the calories for the body to convert to heat. The warming spices act much like the damper by mildly opening
the capillaries and allowing blood flow to deliver this extra heat to the extremities.
WHERE WE ARE GOING
Our development is progressing with the refinement of two individual recipes for the Thermal Bar. First is a product
similar to the original which we will market as an extreme conditions or survival bar. It will continue to use niacin as
the prime vasodilator and will have a statement as to the flush caused by niacin. Under the conditions for which we
will recommend it’s use, such as to avert frostbite or to provide the time to finish a shelter when the hands may be at
the pre-frostbite numb stage, the hot flush cased by the niacin will be a welcome side effect. The second or general
purpose recipe will be along the lines of a pure and healthy cocoa powder / cocoa butter and spice bar which will use
a wide variety of warming spices to replace the niacin as the vasodilator.
